Today the House Transportation & Infrastructure committee heard testimony from Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Lisa Jackson. She talked about the enforcement of the regulations on states. It was interesting to me that Rep. Coble asked her if she was more concerned about "enforcement" rather than working with communities. She mentioned the word "enforcement" 26 times in her testimony. She said that enforcement was very important, that was how they were able to acheive the mission. Rep. Coble was looking at the issue from working on the ground with his counties, she had the big overview picture. You have to work with the smaller communities, there are huge burdens placed on the communities and expectations with little support.
Rep. Laura Richardson (CA) made it abundalnlty clear that Lisa Jackson came to here district unannounced and toured the area without the courtesy of letting the Congresswoman's office know she was there. The Congresswoman said if she had let the office know then she would have gone with her and shown her some of the areas that they need help .
There still is no bill in the House. The only bill at the moment is the one in the Senate, S787.
